Andrew recommends Ghostbusters I & II

One of the most popular movies of the last 30 years with one of the most popular theme songs ever written?  A waste of time to even recommends?  Absolutely.  The only reason I’m bothering to write about it is because I foolishly listed it as on my “Most Overrated Movies of the ’80s” list.  I had seen this movie several times, but only caught parts of it the last decade or so on television, and what I saw, I thought was silly, and didn’t age well.  It wasn’t until I decided to give this movie another go a few days ago that I realized how wrong I had been.  This movie is fantastic!  Please forgive me for my bad judgement.  Though, I still don’t like the theme song…

The second movie is probably only about half as good as the first one, maybe a high “C” or a low “B” range, if I had to assign it a letter grade.  It recycles the same formula that made the first one click, but it still adds a few new elements tot he mix to make it interesting.  The only problem with the movie is the main villain from that ugly painting and his annoying henchmen who works for the museum.  Maybe the Statue of Liberty bit was also a bit much, as well as the “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” ending.

Overall, definitely worth seeing!  Let’s just hope part three doesn’t ruin anything.

The first Ghostbusters movie is a classic. It is a fun, entertaining, creative 80’s flick. The second one is still fun, but I do agree that it isn’t what the first movie was.

But it teaches one very important lesson: Bill Murray is hilarious. 🙂
